I finally got around to getting my charms, from the charm swap that I participated in at ArtFiberFest in October 2007, onto a bracelet. It will take some getting used to as it is so dramatic and I am rather plain and simple for the most part. But I will really enjoy it as a display piece that I can enjoy all day long. It is currently hanging in my kitchen where I see it often. Aren't they all beautiful and unique?! I love it and am so happy that I got it all put together.
I also got my project finished for another swap that I am doing for the ArtFiberFest group. We are exchanging prayer flags. We were to pick a thought and make 5 flags that measured 9x9 with the word on it and any other ornamentation that reflected the message. I was quickly struck with the idea of 'focus' or 'clarity', and had a bit of a struggle trying to figure out how to make it work. I ended up using a clear vinyl and edged it with rainbow organza, the word was put on with dimensional paint. Don't know how it is going to work with the others, but I think that it properly reflects the idea of clarity.
While I was finishing up the prayer flags, I quickly grabbed the trash, organza and thread, and threw it between two layers of white organza and quilted it down. I have now completed 2 blocks from recyled material, and I have another that needs a bit of paint on it.
Last night I drove through the countryside where I grew up and was overcome by a sense of peace and serenity. It never ceases to amaze me what a profound impact an area can have on us, and I am so thankful that I am still close enough to enjoy it. I managed to have my birthday dinner with both of my parents last night. For reasons beyond our control, it was a bit rushed, but I can't begin to tell you how much it meant to me to have them all to myself. It was a quiet celebration but it meant so much. Thanks Dad and Mom, I love you both! XOXO
