I've been keeping my hands busy doing some English Paper Piecing lately. If my envisioned project fails, it will become a quilt of sorts, but I have that creative hope that I'm on the right path.
I'm inspired by a couple of antique objects that I have, so I know it can be done, but the angles have me questioning my ability. I seem to be in delay mode, as I really am at the point of discovering if all my time has been in vain. Oh, the agony of not knowing. So I'll be spending the next few days assembling the pieces, adjusting and ultimately celebrating the attempt and hopefully success of this colorful, creative whimsy. I'll keep you posted, and share the inspiration later, too. Hope that you are enjoying the assembly of life's pieces as well.
"time keeps on slipping, slipping, ......" Well, spring break is behind us, and we have survived. O. had her knee surgery and S. had a bug, and I had little sleep, but as busy as I was, I still managed to find some time to be creative, thank goodness!
The friday before it all started, I headed down to do a sprint through the Dallas Quilt Show. I was in such a hurry to see the vendors quilts, that I tucked my show program under my arm and headed down the isles. About an hour into the show, as I was paying for a purchase, I happened to notice the cover of the program, and a big smile crossed my face and I got all warm and fuzzy feeling because it was a picture from home, on the cover! Judy had brought the guild raffle quilt up to do some promotional photos months ago, and I hadn't heard if there were any that she could use, and I'm so glad that there were. I can only imagine the feeling if it had been MY quilt, too!
I bought a fun kit at the quilt show and managed to get it made while watching movies this past week. I am itching to get some more done, just stinking cute and fun! Check out her book and goodies at Stickballstudio.
I am so hooked on making doll quilts. I have several tops made and backs ready and hope to get some quilting done this week. They seem to be about the right size for my attention span, and big enough to try out any fabric combinations.
Hopefully not so much time will slip by before my next post, Blessings!
Back in December, I gave O. the job of downloading all of my music onto the computer. In an effort to keep the cd's organized, I had her put a dot sticker on each case after downloading. I decided that I would be kind and clean them off of each case as I took them in to resale, and began sticking them on a journal page. I stopped after one page was filled, and inked over the dots, and removed them once again! I wonder wether or not I can maintain my kindness effort with the ones remaining?
Wow! What a difference having all of my music in one place and so accessible! But I must confess that I could NOT adjust to the earphones and had to get a dock. The ability of surround sound in my ears, left me twisting and twitching trying to figure out what was making the noise around me. Quite the site, I'm sure, but peace is in place now that it is coming from a central location - not my head! I've never understood the desire for surround sound, I once gave Dean an old drive-in movie speaker and told him that was as close to surround sound as I wanted.
Life has been busy with physical therapy for O. and surgery next week. Both of the girls have 'friends' of the male gender that have been visiting frequently and that keeps me on my toes. In an effort for some family bonding, we had them both over last weekend and we all paired up and decorated Easter Gingerbread Houses. It really was a lot of fun and plenty of laughs to be had.
I discovered that boys like to throw candy at icing and see if it will stick, they will eat the pieces that don't, and everything is a race. I'm thinking that God knew what he was doing by giving us girls, but what a blessing to get to spend time with them all having fun. Hope that your days are full of blessings and a little spring colored sugar!
