My entry for an exhibit called Twelve2Inches, during the Dallas Quilt Show Mar. 12-14.
The signage will read: A friend once told me, "The most difficult step for every artist is not getting into a gallery or hanging in a show, but over that last load of laundry and into the studio". This is indeed a hard step for me. This quilt is made from that very laundry, the squares of color are cut from the Shout Color Catcher cloths I use in the wash. I guess if I have to take a piece of laundry with me to make it over that pile, I will. Instead of traditional binding, I stuck with the laundry theme and stitched 12 inch pink zipper teeth along each edge. It's not what I thought I would make for the show, but I am quite pleased with the simplicity of it. The blessed inspiration of laundry, go figure!
