I'm just sayin'.....

is a common phrase around our house.  It's often used at the end of a statement.  "When I feel icky, it's not a good idea to decide to clean out the closet and go against the care labels in clothing.  Just because it's a "Boiled Wool" jacket does not mean to dismiss the "dry clean only" label and opt to wash it.  I'm just sayin'.

It's amazing how contrast and color placement can change a block so easily, but how I love when they all come together.  Have a blessed day and don't dish the laundry labels, I'm just sayin'........ 

It's not golden.....

but it's an egg!!!!  And isn't the green color beautiful?  The first egg from the chicks that we got last March.  I splurged on the fancy ceramic egg crate, only because we will have pretty colored eggs!

 

Plenty of sewing going on, but not much to show yet.  I do love these fall quilts that I put out last week, too bad we can't use the table now....

 

Hope your days are bountiful!  I'm heading back to the henhouse and see if anybody else has gotten the idea yet!!

Misty day

We are having another round of damp weather here, which translates to bad photos indoors.  But look at the treasures that I found while tending the chickens this afternoon.

 

I much prefer my webs bejeweled than the dark creepy things that the stores have for Halloween.  I found some other jewels at an estate sale yesterday, hopefully better lighting soon to share photos.  Blessings this peaceful Sunday!

Monday, Again?

It's hard to believe that summer is passing so quickly. We had a dog dumped out on us a few weeks ago, making a total of 4.  What a circus when we go outside!  We are looking for a home for her, she is the sweetest thing, but given the fact that she is a Pit Bull, I'm afraid that placement is going to be difficult.  She's off to the vet tomorrow for spaying and shots and general upkeep, a bill I wasn't planning on, but choose to do anyhow.

I've not taken the time to work on any of my AFF projects, but have a few pictures that I can share of completed works.  First up is a crown from my class with Alisa Burke.  What a sweetheart she is!  It was a very fun class and a good start to the creative retreat.

The last class that I had was with Ruth Rae, she was feeling a bit under the weather, but that didn't slow her inspiring ways.  I made a few pages for a possible fabric book.

There was another class, but I am hoping to get some more work done on it before I share it, I'm guessing that I just need to put it on my schedule.  It's hot enough to stay inside and enjoy some stitching, maybe tomorrow.  Hope that you are staying cool.

Catch if you can

I was out on the porch the other night after a rain and realized that much of it was moving!  There were tiny frogs everywhere.  I caught this little guy and then had to try and hold the camera and take a picture with my left hand while not losing him and not dropping the camera!  So tiny!  I just had to share it with you.

Time has been sneaking up on me and I'm not prepared for my trip to ArtFiberFest but I am SO ready to go!  I'm ready to take classes from amazing teachers and to get to hang out with other amazing women artists for days!  Oh the laughter and bonding that happens on these art retreats!  yep, Cindy and Tammy will be there! Our theme this year is orb's, and I have managed to make some trades.

I'm still in love with flowers and found these on sale at the grocery store the other day and had to treat myself!  Hope that you find a way to treat yourself nice today, too!

Puddles and Cuddles

We have finally gotten some much needed rain.  It's been in the forecast all week with barely a sprinkle.  But yesterday afternoon the heavens opened and we had 5.79" in about 8 hours and then rain through the night.  Ahh, it is so green out now.  The dogs were happy to be out today and I had the realization of the horrors of mud after a storm like that!  As if three inside dogs were not enough, we are dog sitting for my in-laws as they vacation in far off wonderous places.

It is taking precious Cuddles some adapting to life in a busy family with three other dogs.  She's been playing the "abandoned princess" for days now but has finally realized that if she walks away from her food bowl, the food will NOT be there when she comes back! 

I have also been so inclined to get chicks again this spring.  I had been rather taking my time in getting some, only to find out that it seems to have become the national desire of the people to raise chicks this year, and they are hard to come by.  So when my friend Tracy told me that she had new chicks from the feed store in town, I ran over and fell for 7 new chicks!

All of these critters and I'm still getting some quilting done.  More on that soon, I'm heading out to enjoy the damp green earth!

This and That

Awhile back I decided to tackle the stack of projects that were awaiting quilting.  Turns out that I have an aversion to whacking into a new batting, afraid that I will end up with too many odd size pieces.  So I played puzzle until I got the best use out of a queen size bat, and have been gradually getting backs picked out and things quilted.  Here's the first thing done, a dolly 9-patch.

And then I must share with you an old bottle that I LOVE.  I am a fan of odd vintage signs and words that strike me as funny.  Gotta love the Skabcura Sheepdip!

The color of the glass is divine and shows off almost any color of flower.  I'm such a sucker for old glass bottles, and don't use enough of then in the house.  I need to rethink some ideas so that I can enjoy them more, Patty has a way with making empty bottles beautiful!  I'm off to tackle the binding on another project!

For the Love of Flowers

It has been so dry around here this past year, I'm rather surprised at the rose blooms.  They are antique roses, so hardy by nature, thank goodness.

And when night comes and the scent is simply hanging in the breeze, I gaze upon my new painting as I sit in my chair and read.  The boot is simply a statement that we enjoy a good splash in a sizable puddle!

We may be waiting for the puddle, but I'm bound to find joy in life's blessings, hope that you do, too!

Progress

As promised, I have been getting some things done around the house.  However, nothing of photo worthiness.  As I was trying to decide what to tackle first, I happened to open the dreaded junk drawer.  We are lucky enough to have an antique railroad counter as a breakfast bar, that just so happens to have 4 drawers in it, and everyone of them has turned into a junk drawer of sorts.  It seemed like a pretty good place to start, and I must admit that they are looking pretty good.

We visited an art show this weekend and I did buy a painting, hopefully the sun is out tomorrow and I'll get a nice picture of it to share with you.  It's a lovely still life of a spring bouquet!  Just what I was looking for.  May peace be in your days and drawers!

Spring Fever

I've been wanting to post, but have been feeling in such a rut.  Same routines, same duties, same projects to work on, same old same old, that's when it hit me.  I have spring fever!  I am ready for a change of scenery around the house, plant some flowers, change out the quilts, hang some different things on the walls, just simply lighten up and freshen up. I'm planning on digging in and shaking things up over the next few days.  I find it amazing how the simplest of actions can completely change my outlook.  I'm looking forward to some new scenery, and maybe some new energy!
