For the Love of Pinterest

How do I love thee, let me count the ways......

Yes, it is that bad, I even have the app on my phone.  It has been a constant source of inspiration and distraction from my loss of time in the sewing room.  S.  is recovering quite nicely and has regained almost all of her independence, given that each arm still has a cast or a brace.

It seems that I passed the Pinterest addiction to both of the girls, too.  O. has been pinning things left and right, an interesting insight into the thoughts of a college girl.  She had even given in to the crafting bug because of Pinterest, for a moment.

She had grand ideas of going into production of key fobs, but that seems to have dissipated.  I enjoyed having her ooh and ahh over my stash for the time that she was up there though.  I bet she'll be back before long, how can she not find something else to make on Pinterest?

Another reason I love that site, well, I get to 'pin' all kinds of things for all kinds of reasons, my own reasons.  And sometimes it is something that I really want, enough to give it is own board.  And then there are people in your life that are observant enough to notice the fact and take action on it.

Yesterday I had a mysterious package in the mail from a bead company, and inside....

Summer Sands

It seems that the sands of summer time are slipping past, and I honestly wish that we had a beach vacation to look forward to, then I remember the heat.  It has been so easy to get distracted from my creative pursuits, but I find that I am really enjoying the moments of summer.  So while this may seem a bit of a jumble of a post, that's kind of how my mind has been wandering this summer.

• I am loving the fresh produce and farmers markets.  So many favorites, but what I most enjoy is the fact that the heat in the kitchen is so limited.  Lots of salads, salsas and fruit.
• Pinterest has become my new web addiction.  I really have no idea how to explain it.  Check it out.  It has been SO very interesting to see the images that I like enough to 'pin' together in a group.  It has me questioning myself a lot. If this is the look that I what for the house, why am I not taking action towards it?  Oh, it can be dangerous alright.  It sucks your time as you browse images to add to your boards, all the while creating major to-do lists for projects that you want to get started.

• This book has also been great inspiration for projects around the house.  I am dreaming of gallons and gallons of white paint, now if my shoulder would just cooperate.
• Speaking of books, I just finished reading the Sweet Potato Queens' Book of Love, laugh out loud and die of shock at times.  Gosh, maybe I am a bit prudish, but my friends know the heart of me is fun, and I have been invited to join a local chapter of the Sweet Potato Queens called the Texoma Art Tarts.  I have opted to forgo the crown and be a bit more comfortable in the wings as a 'wannabe' or a bon bon as we are called here.  Fun and adventure awaits!  And bling, oh how they love their bling!  I need to get my bling on, so outta my comfort zone.

• This quilt has been in the works for a couple of months.
• I don't like blue that much.
• I don't like monochromatic quilts.
• I was happy to follow the cutting directions to try and eat the excess blue fabric in my stash.
• I failed to register the dimensions of the 'lap' quilt.  Um, way bigger than needed for a small someone in a wheelchair.  But hey, that fabric is not going back in my stash!
• It has been pieced and then downsized to something that will fit better, and is currently basted and ready to quilt.
• I will be making another quilt from the rows that I removed, and it'll have to be quick because I don't want to see any blue fabric for awhile.

So that's my ramble.  I have missed posting, but this bulletin format may work better for me this summer, whatever it takes.

Tangled Inspiration

This weekend I found my self in a Zentangle workshop.  For some reason this came so much easier that basic doodling.  I guess I'm a doodle flunky, I over think it too much.  This is my first attempt at home.

I'm pretty happy to have a use for this journal that I made back in 2003.   It has sat patiently awaiting inspiration to fill the pages, they are small, measuring 2 1/2" x 5 1/2", as size that is not too intimidating.

 

I am also feeling rather inspired by this assortment of journal and quilt goodness from Tuscan Rose.  I made a guess at identifying something on her blog and she awarded me a prize, how cool is that?  I am seriously loving the old quilt blocks and fabric scraps, metal bookplates, and the tags are yummy, yummy colors and prints!  Oh, just what to create????

Time Marches On

I have been such a bad blogger lately, and I apologize.  Seems that there hasn't been much to say, and yet I am happy and content, and staying a wee bit busy.  I have, yet again, been tackling old projects, when, oh when, will I be caught up?  This one isn't that old, actually started this year, January, but, this year, and finished in the same year!  Yippee!  A Joyful Christmas table runner.

I really hesitate with Christmas things before Thanksgiving, but I did want it done.  

I am really looking forward to Thanksgiving this year, heck, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of all!  It's not about the food, the food is good, but it is about being surrounded by family and friends and truly acknowledging the blessing in our lives.  A grateful and thanksgiving spirit are a cornerstone to a happy and content life, no matter what life throws at you.  Now, I need to go get busy with getting those dishes out and ready.  Have a blessed holiday!
