I have been getting some major spring cleaning done, as in waxing all of the floors. It doesn't rank high in the 'fun' department, but it pretty much tops the satisfaction list. I am loving the shine of a nicely waxed floor, and SO very thankful that my friend Abbie was kind enough to run the buffing machine. I got the job of hand waxing and buffing along 251 feet of baseboards. I was not so sure that I would be able to lift my arms to eat the next day, but I managed!
Today has been a long awaited day. Well, it actually started last night, when I went to hear Gwen Marston speak at the Quilters Guild of Dallas. Today was the first of the workshops, and we worked on making bakets.
I am using the Kona Crush fabric as the background, and love the way that the printed fabrics just pop against it. I don't have a real plan for how big I will make this quilt, but I expect that it will remain small so that I can finish it soon. I am thinking Easter baskets and May Day baskets as I make these, and I can't help but smile.
Tomorrow brings the Parts Department workshop and I am looking forward to turning these blocks into a quilt.
Juanita, it was nice to meet you at the gm workshops- she is so awesome! Thanks for giving me your blog info so I could see a picture of your patchwork baskets, I just love them.
Glancing thru your blog, I see we have many things in common: I delivered meals to the elderly for many years, so I enjoyed your story about Andy. And I see you're reading the Pioneer Woman's new book - I'm a huge fan, I went to her booksigning - were you there? Many of the red/pink Kaffe fabrics in your coffee cuff are ones I used in 2 t-shirt quilts I made for two sorority sisters. I especially like the red with the dark teal leaves. And I see you're a member of DMQG - I've just started getting interested in "modern" quilts, so I'm collecting solids and have several ideas I want to start working on.
I'm sure we'll run into each other again!
Happy quilting!
